I'll never forget being at a customer site, when I first heard the Confucius saying:
I hear, I forget;
I see, I remember;
I do, I understand.
Whenever I'm coaching, I think of this saying -- from making the bed, coaching a sport, or on-boarding an employee.

Verbal education is good and sometimes the only option - just realize you may need to reinforce the training multiple times. Visual education such as diagrams, pictures, and video learning is very good and a better option. The best method is teaching by doing. While active participation is more time consuming and requires more coordination, it leads to deeper comprehension and quicker proficiency.
Really, did your wife teach you how to make the bed by providing documentation? No!
So whenever possible, especially for important and time critical processes, prioritize hands-on activities supported by engaging discussions and visual aids.
That's my 8020 Framework! What's yours?
