Spring has sprung! So that means it’s time for a little spring cleaning! My honey do list includes getting the patio cleaned and organized so we can get maximum enjoyment. And while we’re at it, let’s do a little spring cleaning on our business processes to get maximum value.  We call it 5S.

Clean organized closet

  • Sort -  remove unnecessary items, focusing on what is essential.

  • Set - Arrange items so everything has a designated place and is easily accessible

  • Shine - Maintain a clean workspace and ensure equipment is clean and functional

  • Standardize - Establish roles and responsibilities for maintaining the workplace

  • Sustain - Continuously improve the 5S process and make it a part of your culture with training and audits.

  • Bonus - add Safety considerations into all 5 steps for a safer environment.  Safety first!

The 5S concept can be applied at home and work in both physical and virtual workspaces - from your office, to your laptop, to your process documentation library.

That’s my 8020 Framework. What’s yours?
